How hard is it to change the a/c clutch assy. on a 94 Honda Civic and do I need to re-charge the system?

easier to put on a rebuilt (if that is all you can afford) better to put on a new one. you will need to evacuate the old freon, remove the old compressor, install the new compressor, add the proper amount of oil, evacuate the system again, keeping it in a vacuum for an hour, then re-charge with the proper type and amount of freon. How hard is it to change the a/c clutch assy. on a 94 Honda Civic and do I need to re-charge the system?
YES AND NO, YOU CAN DO THIS YOURSELF BUT YOU WILL NEED A LOT OF SPECIAL TOOLS AND YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RECHARGE THE SYSTEM.

YOU WILL NEED TIME AND PATIENCE HOWEVER.

AND NO TO JUST REPLACING THE COMPRESSOR BECAUSE YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE RECEIVER DRIER AS WELL AND YOU WILL NOT KNOW HOW MUCH OIL IS ALREADY LEFT IN THE SYSTEM.

YOU MIGHT CAUSE A RESTRICTION IN THE SYSTEM BY ADDING TWO MUCH OIL.
