Yamaha Banshee 350cc. How to work the gears?

I have a 2003 banshee and am having some problems with the gearing.

1. where do i put the gear lever so that when i start it the quad will be in neutral?

2. after driving around why can i never find neutral again?

3. do i need to use the clutch when changing up gears, or only when downshifting?

thanks

P.S. dont answer if you know nothing about quads and are going to say something stupidYamaha Banshee 350cc. How to work the gears?
--If your not experienced, allways use the clutch when shifting gears. If you shift improperly without using the clutch, it's easy to do damage to the transmission and internal shift linkage. Save that for race days.

--Practice shifting while the engine is off. Stand on the side of the quad and rock it foward and back while putting upward or downward pressure on the shift lever.

--You might be having trouble finding neutral because the trani is starting to get worn.

--Try to find neutral while the quad is still rolling. Or shift down to first and come to a stop with the clutch lever pulled in. Rev up the engine and let go of the throttle. The second the engine starts to slow down, shift up softly.

--Your clutch lever %26quot;free play%26quot; might not be adjusted properly. Adjust it so you can pull in the lever about 1/4%26quot; before the cable gets pulled.

--The shift pattern is one down, five up.

--Starting from neutral, press the shift lever down to go into first gear.

--Lift the shift lever up softly and it'll go into neutral. If you lift the shift lever up firmly, it will go through neutral and into second.

--Lift the shifter up again and again and again to get to 3-4-5-6

--Similar procedure to down shift. Press down on shifter to go to a smaller gear. Press down again and again until you get to neutral, or first gear.

If you ride with MX boots and your quad has nerf bars, there might not be enough clearance to get your toe under the shift lever. Unbolt the shift lever and raise it up a notch.Yamaha Banshee 350cc. How to work the gears?
The gear needs to be in between 1st and 2nd to be in neutral, first is the one at the bottom so the next one up is neutral. You don't need to use the clutch to change up gears just part shut off the throttle when selecting next gear. But you must also give a little extra throttle before changing up.Yamaha Banshee 350cc. click all gears down and one halfway up.
