Suzuki Katana GSX600F 93 clutch/gear change.!?

Noisy and stiff gear change.

A)... Changes gear fine when clutch cable is over tightened but I loose friction and thus reduced drive, so I am guessing there is no real issues with my transmission?

Is that a correct 1st assumption?

B)?If I slacken clutch cable (at lever) so I get good clutch engagement and no slipping, the gears CLONK and are sometimes very stiff to change. It almost breaks my heart to change it for fear of how rough it sounds whilst changing gears! clonk clonk every change!

I either get good shift %26amp;reduce torque, or good torque and stiff shift?

PN. Have changed oil/filter for as specified with no improvement.

MISC....i have located the locking nut and center screw on the engine/clutch case. But what does it do that my adjusting the cable does not do?Suzuki Katana GSX600F 93 clutch/gear change.!?
This is an internal clutch problem.Bad springs, worn clutch basket, worn friction plates or warped steel plates.I know I've answered this question before so here you go again.

That engine has an additional adjuster on the clutch lifter (where the cable attaches at the engine).

    Adjust it.

Fully loosen the clutch cable at the handlebar lever.

Loosen the lock nut at the lifter and turn the adjuster in, until it lightly seats against the push rod.

Back the screw out 1/4 turn and tighten the lock nut.

Tighten the cable at the handlebar lever leaving 4mm of free play.

Free play is the distance the lever can be moved before pulling

    any tension on the cable.

How much work is it to change the clutch master cylinder on a 1994 Montero ls. Does it require that the tranny be removed?1994 clutch Slave Cylinder replacement?
No you don't need to remove the transmission. Labor time is less than an hour. Two bolts and the hydraulic line are all that are involved.

I have a 95 honda prelude i changed the clutch master cylinder and now i have no clutch pressure what so ever?

anyone know how to get the pressure back?I have a 95 honda prelude i changed the clutch master cylinder and now i have no clutch pressure what so ever?
this is normal- it takes a while to get any fluid out. do this- pump the pedal 10-15 times with your hand, as you'll need to pull it back up at first. hold it down, and have a helper open the bleeder screw. tighten the screw. keep repeating this, until nothing but clear fluid comes out. may take 20 or more times of doing this if all the fluid drained out.I have a 95 honda prelude i changed the clutch master cylinder and now i have no clutch pressure what so ever?

Should I sell my car and keep my bike?

I have two vehicles; a 1993 Ford Probe GT in great condition with only 57,500 original miles on it. And I just got a 1998 Yamaha FZR600 with 23,400 miles I've had the bike for a little over a week and its off to a bad start it has mechanical problems and my friend dropped it on the left side during a test drive ruining the whole appearance of the whole bike. So now my bike has mechanical and cosmetic issues. But i like motorcycles way more than cars but how would I get by if its raining or snowing? I like my car it has been very dependable for the last two and a half years that I had it, but its behind on maintenance, its going to need brakes, oil change, clutch, struts. I am thinking if I sell my car I would get my beat up bike like new again and I'll have left over money for first month's rent. But I honestly don't want to sell my car but I can't have both I gotta choose one. So what do you all think?car or street bike?Should I sell my car and keep my bike?
Me - I keep my bike, always.

But, I'm in a different situation.

You should dump the problem bike and keep the reliable car.

    For now, at least.

Later, when you don't have to worry about rent (first, last, or otherwise) get yourself another bike.Should I sell my car and keep my bike?
I'd go with the car for sure. It's a whole lot safer, you have more room for people, more room for whatever, and like you said... weather issues. If your car is giving you too much trouble, you could maybe upgrade to a better car with the money you get from selling your bike.Should I sell my car and keep my bike?
id rather have the bike but it just wont work out because of weather, u gotta have a carShould I sell my car and keep my bike?
put you bike on hold and get your car fixed and in a month or so once you get your car up to par then you move onto your bike and fix it up.dont sell any of your things because if you wait you can keep them all if you really think about it.Should I sell my car and keep my bike?
It really depends on where you live. How much snow do you get? Is it raining a lot?

I'd stick with the car. I love bikes but don't forget about when you buy something. It doesn't even have to be big! How will yu get it home without a car?

Also how long have you been riding? I've been riding a few years and I have to say that I've thought about dropping my car and living with just the bike. I even tested it out for a month over the summer last year, leaving the car at home and taking hte bike everywhere. It was really annoying when I had to do errands, a normal 1 hour errand trip that stopped at 3 stores became and ordeal as I had to go home between each stop and couldn't get what i needed every time because I couldnt fit it on the back.

  • How do you change gear smoothly?

I'm learning how to drive but find it really difficult to change gear smoothly. My instructor explains it as a swapping of the feet. So I take my foot off the gas and go down on the clutch, change gear and then take the clutch to the biting point quickly and then go back down on the gas and slowly bring up the rest of the clutch from the biting point. But each time i do this there is a small bump feeling and it annoys me. If i try to do it as a slow swapping of the feet as my instructor explains it seems to take too long and I lose the momentum. Please help me. Sorry if this is confusing. How do you change gear smoothly?
Think of the gas and clutch as a teter-toter so when the clutch goes down the gas comes up to stop and the other way to go.

This just needs practiceHow do you change gear smoothly?
    You just need to practice.
